Silicon carbide
Silicon carbide, with the chemical formula SiC, is made from raw materials such as quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), sawdust (salt is needed to produce green silicon carbide) and other raw materials through high-temperature smelting in a resistance furnace. It has the characteristics of stable chemical properties, high thermal conductivity, small thermal expansion coefficient, and good wear resistance. In addition to being used as an abrasive, it has many other uses.
